If You’re At Risk, We’re Here to Help

If you have prediabetes, also known as borderline diabetes, you’re up to 70% more likely to develop Type 2 diabetes than someone who doesn’t have it. If one or both of your parents are diabetic, your risk is even stronger. Good news — we’re here for you with
free resources and support.

  • Age 18 or older.

  • Have a body mass index (BMI) over 25 (23 or higher if you’re Asian American).

  • Have no prior diagnosis of type 1 or type 2 diabetes.

  • Not pregnant.

Cut Your Risk of Developing Diabetes in Half.

The FREE Dallas County Diabetes Prevention Program was created for individuals with high risk factors including those:

  • With a family history of Type 2 diabetes.

  • Who are considered overweight or have a BMI of 25+.

  • Aged 45 and older.

  • Who are physically inactive (less than 30 minutes 3X per week).

  • Who have a history of gestational diabetes.

Taking some small steps can mean big results for your health. Things like losing weight by making simple food swaps and increasing your activity — even by a little — can help cut your risk of getting Type 2 diabetes.

Our FREE Program will:

  • Provide free group support from others like you.

  • Provide free access to a lifestyle coach.

  • Provide free nutrition counseling and weight management tools.

  • Be Offered in English and Spanish.
